Kay Sons
A freight bidding and fleet management platform for the road logistics industry.

01What problem were we trying to solve?
Road freight runs on fragmented tools, bids over phone calls and spreadsheets, tracking in chat apps, payments reconciled by hand. Shippers, transporters, dispatch teams, and accountants had no single system, so deals were slow, opaque, and error-prone.
There was a clear need for one platform that could run the full freight lifecycle, from bid creation to delivery and payment, across both web and mobile.
02What did we build, and what decisions mattered?
We built Kay Sons, a cross-platform (web + mobile) freight management and bidding platform that connects shippers, logistics managers, transporters, and dispatch teams on one system.
It covers the full lifecycle: a freight bidding marketplace, role-based dashboards for transporters, logistics managers, dispatch, admins, and accountants, fleet and vehicle management, live shipment tracking, a ledger for billing and reconciliation, proof of delivery with fraud-risk controls, and analytics dashboards.
We chose Flutter and Supabase to ship responsive web and native mobile from a single codebase, with Postgres, auth, and edge functions handling real-time data and role-based access enforced at the database level. We also built an AI admin assistant for conversational insights and operations.
03What changed or what did we learn because of it?
Bringing bidding, tracking, payments, and reporting into one system replaced a stack of disconnected tools and gave every role a clear view of the same data.
We learned that for multi-role operational software, enforcing roles and business logic at the database level keeps a large system secure and maintainable as it scales.
Kay Sons turns a fragmented, call-and-spreadsheet freight process into one connected platform, from bid to delivery.
